Regular chimney sweeping is very important to protect you, your family & your home.

Open Fires – Wood Burners – Multi Fuel Stoves

Having your chimneys and flues professionally swept and inspected by Journeyman Chimney Services using modern techniques is both quick and clean.

JCS offer an all-inclusive chimney and flue safety inspection, sweeping and testing service for Solid Fuel flues.

It’s a fact that blocked chimneys, restricted flue-ways and choked throat plates can all contribute towards dangerous carbon monoxide build-up.

JCS not only sweep to remove soot and creosote, we can clear birds’ nests and other blockages from chimneys and flues, making them safe to use.

JCS are fully insured and always issue a certificate of sweeping on completion of our work. All chimneys, appliances and flues are professionally swept to BS6461 & HETAS quality standards.

Whatever you have – a small or large open fire, a wood burning or multi fuel stove – Journeyman Chimney Services are able to help & advise.

How often should you have your chimneys and flues swept?

If using Smokeless Fuels, have your chimneys and flues swept at least once a year. For Bituminous House Coals and Well Seasoned Wood, once per season when in use. Oil & Gas flues can be swept once a year. However, JCS suggest you seek the advice of your Gas Safe (gas) or Oftec (oil) registered engineer.

Opening up an old fireplace or installing a stove?

Journeyman Chimney Services will not only sweep your chimney. We will advise you about the structural safety of the chimney, the condition of the flue, any remedial work that needs to be carried out as well as check that you have the correct pot or cowl for the type of fuel you're burning. Sensible and practical advice.
